World Foundry Leader use e-Learning to Improve Employees' Productivities and Time-to-Market¡K

Turning to CIT's e-Learning system, the company was able to effectively plan and implement online training enterprise-wide.

Challenge:

Founded in 1987, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (tsmc) is the world's largest IC foundry. With over 14,000 employees worldwide, planning and implementing high quality enterprise-wide training to skill its employees is critical to its success. In a single year, the company offers more than 1000 internal training courses across its various business units throughout the world.

Implementing these courses was, however, a challenge to tsmc. Its trainers or trainee had to travel to the different countries or sites to implement courses, and these courses were used repeatedly in every country or site. The cost involved in setting up these courses were also significantly high. A new solution was required to address these issues and to manage the vast number of training materials within the organization.

The designed system seamless integrated with tsmc's PeopleSoft/ERP.

By the end of year 2001, there were over 7,000 employees been benefited from the system and over 32,000 course sessions been enrolled. tsmc was continuous developing their courses and planned to deploy more than 600 internal courses and thousand external, brought-in courses on CIT's e-Learning platform.

There are situations where we need extraordinary service and support from CIT's consulting team, and the team has always been willing to meet and exceed our expectations.", said by Alice Law, the director of tsmc Learn and Development department.
